IRVINE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i freshman opposite
Kristian Titriyski was named the Big West's Offensive Player of the Week after UH's two-match split of No. 9 Stanford last week.
The Sofia, Bulgaria native picked up a first career Big West Offensive Player of the Week award after earning Freshman of the Week honors last week. The opposite averaged 4.00 kills and 4.78 points per set against the Cardinal, totaling 36 total kills in the series while hitting a combined .368.
In Wednesday's five-set win, Titriyski posted a team-high 15 kills with five digs, two blocks and an ace. He followed that with a career-high 21 kills, hitting .472 with six digs, four blocks and a pair of aces in Friday's four-set loss.
Titriyski currently ranks fourth in the conference and seventh nationally in points per set (4.86 avg.) while his 0.611 aces per set average is good for sixth in the country, and fifth in the league.
The offensive player of the week award is the second for a Rainbow Warrior this season after Adrian Roue received the honor in UH's season-opening sweep of McKendree.
The Rainbow Warriors are off this week before making an East Coast trip to North Carolina for four matches in three days.
