HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Hawai'i beach volleyball team kicked off a weekend of top competition at the 2025 AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Pairs Championship in Huntsville, Ala. on Friday morning.

Sydney Miller and transfer
Emily Heintzelman were the lone UH pair among the 64-pair field after finishing as the top UH pair at the Surf City Challenge qualifier last month. With no pool play this year, the pairs jumped straight into bracket play.
Heintzelman and Miller fell in straight sets to the No. 10 seeded Cal Poly pair Isabella Martinez and Logan Walter in the opening round. Martinez and Walter prevailed 21-15 in each set relegated Heintzelman and Miller to the 33
rd-place bracket.
The UH pair put up a fight in their second match of the day, but were again swept by Long Beach State pair Kiara Edwards and Demi Wagdy. After dropping the opening set 21-17, Heintzelman and Miller battled to a deuce at 21-21. They led 23-22, but conceded the final three points as Edwards and Wagdy pulled ahead for the 25-23 set and match win.
Heintzelman and Miller will continue in the 49
th-place bracket tomorrow morning against Stetson pair Katie and Madeline Camp. First serve is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. CST/7:45 a.m. HT.
