Swim/Dive Teams Post Strong Showings At SMU Invitational

DALLAS — The University of Hawai'i men's and women's swim and dive teams stacked multiple podium finishes and program top-10 times on Day Two of the SMU Invitational on Thursday at the Robson & Lindley Aquatic Center in Dallas, Texas.

Junior Zofia Tyminska led Hawai'i with UH's top individual performance of the evening, winning the 100 breaststroke with a zooming time of 1:00.41—the third-fastest mark in Rainbow Wahine history.

UH posted a pair program top 10 times in the prelims, with Holly Nelson earning the No. 6 mark in the UH record books in the 100 fly (53.81), while Tom Thalau recorded the No. 4 time in the 400 IM (3:51.76) and then improved his time in the finals, clocking in at 3:50.72.

In finals competition the Rainbow Wahine tallied multiple podium finishes and program top 10 marks. Carlotta Ingenerf placed third and posted the No. 5 mark in the 400 IM (4:18.73). In the 100 fly, both Mia Blazhevska Eminova and Isabelle Meraz etched their names in the UH record book, notching the eighth (53.97) and ninth (54.01) fastest times for the 'Bows. Freshman Aoife Harkin recorded the 10th-fastest time in the 400 IM (4:22.14).

Nelson kept rolling in the finals, taking bronze in the 100 fly (53.82) and she tied her own sixth-fasted time in the 50 free (22.57) as the leadoff leg in the 200 free relay. The Rainbow Wahine A team of Nelson, Aziza Meyer, Quincy Key and Tyminska finished third in the relay, touching the wall at 1:30.13—just 0.93 seconds short of the school record. The Ranbow Warriors' 200 free relay team of Karol Ostrowski, Mario Sukovic, Victor Dagenais, Finn Brophy also captured third place with a time of 1:17.21.

In diving, Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo placed third in the 1-meter dive with a score of 338.00, while Olly Wingnall came in 11th place with a final score of 250.30. On the women's side, Macie Wheeler finished fourth in the 3-meter dive with a mark of 307.80.

UH returns to the pool Friday for Day Three of the SMU Invitational, with prelims beginning at 6 a.m. HT and finals set for 1:00 p.m. HT with diving in between at the Robson Lindley Aquatic Center.
