Men’s Volleyball: ’Bows in the Pros

HONOLULU – More than a dozen former University of Hawai'i men's volleyball players will play professional volleyball overseas this season, including veterans Nick West and Taylor Averill, who will begin their 11th and ninth professional seasons, respectively.
 
West and Averill were both teammates at UH. West will play his first season with Patriotas de Lares in Puerto Rico after previously playing in France, Germany, Sweden, and Austria. Averill, who helped Team USA win the bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, begins his first season with Toray Arrows Shizuoka in Japan and had previous stints in Italy, Poland, and France.
 
Entering his seventh pro season, Joe Worsley will play for Enegra Trefl Gdansk in Poland after spending two seasons with Chaumont Volley in France, where he led the club to a third place finish in the French Cup last season. He was a two-time French League Most Valuable Player and two-time Setter of the Year with Chaumont. Brother Gage Worsley begins his first season with France's Arago de Sete – and fifth overall pro season.
 
Colton Cowell also begins his fifth pro season and his second with Changos de Naranjito in Puerto Rico. Patrick Gasman enters his second season with Panathinaikos A.C. in Greece, where he helped lead the club to a Greek championship last year.
 
Cole Hogland returns to the Nippon Steel Sakai Blazers in Japan for his third season after helping lead the club to a third place finish in the Japanese Emperor's Cup All-Japan Championship.
 
Dimitrios Mouchlias, who had one-year stints in Germany and Greece over the past two seasons, will play for Stal Nysa in Poland. Jakob Thelle joined TS BBTS Bielsko-Biała in Poland after one-year stints in Italy and France.
 
Spyros Chakas will play for his hometown Aons Milon Volleyball in Nea Smyrni, Greece once again while Guilherme Voss will play his second season with Tours Volleyball in Tours, France after leading the team to a third place finish in the CEV Cup. Kevin Kauling will also begin his second season with Chênois Genève VB in Geneva, Switzerland.
 
Clay Wieter, who played last season with the Rainbow Warriors, begins his first professional season with Cerebricks Volley Goats Mitteldeutschald in Germany.
 
In addition, former Rainbow Warrior Kāna'i Akana will play for the University of Nottingham in England this season while pursuing his master's degree.
