Women's Basketball Faces Chaminade in Exhibition

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball will make its first appearance in Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center of the 2025-26 season in an exhibition game against Chaminade on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and admission and parking are free.
 
The Rainbow Wahine enter the season as the favorite in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll coming off a second straight conference regular-season title and a fourth consecutive postseason appearance. 

Tuesday's game against the Silverswords of the PacWest Conference will be the first of two exhibitions for the Rainbow Wahine. They'll also face Hawai'i Pacific University on Oct. 28 prior to the Nov. 4 season opener against Portland State.

  'BOWS NOTES
  • The Rainbow Wahine enter the 2025-26 season with a roster of seven returnees and eight newcomers and were voted first in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • The 15-player roster includes 11 international student-athletes; six from Australia, three from New Zealand, and one each from Canada and Italy.
  • The returnees are led by forward Imani Perez, who was voted to this season's All-Big West Preseason Coaches Team. The senior The senior averaged 7.9 points per game last season and earned second consecutive selections to the All-Big West second team and the conference's All-Defensive team last season.
  • Perez was the hub of a UH defense that ranked seventh nationally in scoring defense in limiting opponents to 53.1 points per game and third in field-goal percentage defense at 33.5%.
  •  Center Ritorya Tamilo, the Big West Freshman of the Year, joined Perez on the All-Big West Preseason Coaches' Team. The 6-foot-5 sophomore also played a central role in the defensive effort while setting the program's freshman record with 41 blocked shots.
  • Tamilo averaged 7.3 points per game while shooting a team-high 47.9% from the field and led the team with 5.0 rebounds per game.
  • The incoming class includes two senior transfers in guard Izzy Forsyth (UC San Diego) and Saniyah Neverson (Northern Arizona).
  • Freshman guard Bailey Flavell played with Tamilo on New Zealand's national team this summer. Guard Teyahna Bond (Australia) and forward Fiamma Serra (Italy) also participated with their national programs.
  • Laura Beeman heads into her 14th season as head coach after earning her second consecutive Big West Coach of the Year award and the fourth of her UH career.
