HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team continued to battle on the third day of the Weinman Foundation Invitational against No. 2 Texas A&M and No. 17 Southern California. The four-day tourney continues through Saturday, Jan. 11 at the UH Tennis Complex.

On Friday morning, Joelle Lanz was a highlight for the Rainbow Wahine. She and her doubles partner Emma Forgac fell in a tiebreaker and individually Lanz won UH's only singles match of the day. Lanz and Forgac were edged out by the Southern California duo of Immi Haddad and Maia Sung, 7-6 (3). Lanz then was locked in singles battle with USC's Simone Kay in singles. Lanz held off Kay by a break in the first set and the second set went to 6-6 before Lanz jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the tiebreaker. She eventually defeated Kay, 7-5, 7-6 (2).

In another tight doubles match, UH's Hannah Galindo and Makeilah Nepomuceno fell by a break to USC's Sloane Morra and Jana Hossam, 6-4.

In singles, Hawai'i's Forgac held her own in the first set before falling to USC's 57th-ranked Immi Haddad, 6-4, 6-2. UH's Peppi Ramstedt pushed the Trojan's Jana Hossam in the first set before dropping her match, 7-5, 6-1. Allaire Berl got off to a good start but lost her match to USC's Sloane Morra, 6-4, 6-1, and Nikola Homolkova got off to a slow start, but challenged 15th-ranked Nicole Khirin of Texas A&M, 6-1, 6-4.

The three teams will wrap up the Weinman Foundation Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 11. First serve is slated for 10:00 a.m. HT at the UH Tennis Complex.
