CHENEY, Wash. – The Hawai'i women's soccer team continued its road trip to the Pacific Northwest with a 2-0 loss at Eastern Washington Sunday.
Despite out-shooting the Eagles 19-11, the Rainbow Wahine were held off the scoreboard for the fifth time this season. UH's 19 shots matched a season-high but the 'Bows only managed to put three of those attempts on frame.
The Eagles got on the board early on, as Delani Walker made it 1-0 in the 15th minute off of passes from Isabelle Herting and Kendall Moore. Eastern Washington struck again early in the second half when Chloe Pattison found the back of the net following passes from Riley Arribas and Moore to make it 2-0 in the 54th minute.
UH has turned up the offensive pressure in recent matches, firing off at least 13 shots for the fourth consecutive match and averaging 17 attempts per match during that span.
Brynn Mitchell led the way with five shot attempts followed by
Tatum Porter with four and
Fabiola Zamora with three.
It's also the fifth time in eight matches this season that Hawai'i has out-shot its opponent. Additionally, the Rainbow Wahine earned five corner kicks – all of them in the first half.
The Rainbow Wahine close out their three-match road trip with a match at Portland State on Thursday at 3 p.m. HT.
