Schager Picked To Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Watch List

TYLER, Texas – University of Hawai'i quarterback Brayden Schager was among a group of 93 players selected to the 12th annual Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List which recognizes the nation's top offensive player from the state of Texas or plays at a Texas four-year college.

The award includes 93 players from 10 conferences and two independents, who represent 31 different states and 76 schools. It recognizes a player who exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.

The Dallas, Texas native and 2021 Highland Park High School graduate was also named to the watch list last season. This marks the sixth award that Schager has been mentioned along with the Maxwell Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, The Manning Award, AFCA Good Works Team, and Wuerffel Trophy.

Last season, Schager led the Mountain West in passing yards (3,542), touchdown passes (26), points responsible for (168), and ranked No. 2 in total offense (277.3 ypg). He completed 63.2 percent of his attempts (332-of-525) and was named honorable mention all-MW.

The Watch List will be narrowed to up to 16 semifinalists in November and then up to five finalists in December. They will be selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans, and previous winners. The finalists will be brought to Tyler for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for January 22, 2025.
