HONOLULU – The Hawai'i women's cross country program released its 2024 schedule Wednesday, starting with the season-opening Big Wave Invitational at Kahuku Golf Course on Sept. 7.
After hosting the 23rd Big Wave Invitational, the Rainbow Wahine will hit the road for the UCR Invitational on Sept. 21 before heading to the Pacific Northwest for the Charles Bowles Invitational on Oct. 5 in Salem, Ore.
UH will then compete back on O'ahu on Oct. 12 at the HPU Invitational before closing out the regular season at the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara Oct. 19 in Sunnyvale, Calif. The Rainbow Wahine will then begin postseason competition Nov. 2 at the Big West Championship, hosted by UC Riverside, before heading to Colfax, Wash. on Nov. 15 for the NCAA West Regional.
Hawai'i returns two of its top runners from last season in sophomore
Emilie Kirk Langschwager and
Zola O'Donnell. Langschwager jumped into the top five all-time at UH In both the 6k and 5k, holding the No. 2 6000m time and the No. 4 5000m time in program history. O'Donnell finished in UH's top five in all six meets she competed in as a freshman and ran the third-fastest time by a Hawai'i athlete in both the 5k and 6k.
The Rainbow Wahine roster will be made up of a total of seven returnees and seven newcomers. Five of the new additions are incoming freshmen while one is a graduate transfer and one is an added walk-on junior.
