Men’s Basketball Boosts Frontcourt With Valpo Transfer

HONOLULU -- University of Hawai'i men's basketball coach Eran Ganot announced the addition of 6-10 post player Jerome Palm to the 2024-25 roster. Palm is originally from the Netherlands but has spent his entire collegiate career in the United States, including the last two seasons at Valparaiso.

In his two years at Valpo, Palm played in 50 games with 26 starts. This past season he made 17 starts for the Beacons, averaging 4.7 points and  3.8 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the floor. He scored in double-digits in three of his five final games and posted a pair of double-doubles on the year, including 12 points and 10 rebounds versus nationally-ranked Illinois. He also  produced 10 points and a season-high 14 rebounds in the opening round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

"Jerome is a fantastic addition to our program," Ganot said. "His ability to impact the game defensively, score in the post and create for others gives our team a dynamic element. He'll also bring a great veteran voice and professionalism into our locker room. Jerome's values fit really well with our program and culture and we share the excitement with our community in welcoming him to our 'ohana."

Palm first arrived in the United State in 2020, playing two seasons of junior college basketball in Florida at Daytona State and Hillsborough Community College before enrolling at Valparaiso for the next two seasons. He has one year of eligibility with UH.

Palm is the third frontcourt player in this year's signing class, joining Utah Tech transfer Tanner Christensen (6-10) and Xavier transfer Gytis Nemeikša (6-8). He is also the third international player to sign with UH this summer, joining Nemeikša of Lithuania and Jacopo Van der Knaap who grew up  in Italy, but who has trained and competed for the Netherlands national team.
