LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Hawai'i defensive back and return specialist
Cam Stone is among 48 players who were selected for the 2024 Paul Hornung Award Preseason Watch List.
The award is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission in memory of the late football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung.
This marks the first time Stone has been selected to the watch list after earning weekly honor roll distinction in 2022 while at Wyoming. Last season, his first with the Rainbow Warriors, the Angleton, Texas native was named to the Jim Thorpe Award preseason watch list.
Stone is one of five players from the Mountain West among the list including San Diego State's Kenan Christon, UNLV's Jacob De Jesus, Fresno State's Malik Sherrod, and New Mexico's Luke Wysong.
Stone is a three-time honorable mention all-Mountain West selection, twice at Wyoming and once as a Rainbow Warrior. Last season, Stone started 10 games and finished with six pass breakups and one interception. He also served as UH's primary kick returner and averaged 20.7 yards per return.
The winner will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award dinner in Louisville, Ky. In March 2025.
