HONOLULU — Nine members of the University of Hawai'i swimming and diving teams earned recognition on the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America's Scholar-America Team for the 2023-24 season.
The CSCAA announced the teams on Wednesday and the Rainbow Wahine placed five swimmers and divers on the NCAA Division I women's second team and four Rainbow Warriors made the men's second team.
Representing the Rainbow Wahine were
Anna Friedrich,
Elma Lund,
Isabelle Lombardi,
Mandolin Nguyen and
Zofia Tyminska. Making the men's list were
Juan Gonzalez,
Justin Lisoway,
Mackaby Pennington and
Mario Surkovic.
To qualify for the CSCAA Scholar All-America first team, student-athletes must have a earned a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second-team selections also must have a 3.5 GPA and met the "B" time standard for the national championship or qualified for the zone qualification meet. Over 2,000 student-athletes in NCAA Division I, II and III, the NAIA and NJCAA were named to the Scholar-All America teams.
