2024 Beach Volleyball Season Review

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

  • Hawai‘i captured the Big West Championship for the fourth time in school history and for the first time since 2018.

 

  • UH won the conference title by reeling off four wins. That included a pair of victories versus host Long Beach State, punctuated by a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Beach in the title match.

 

  • The Rainbow Wahine earned a trip to the NCAA Championship in Gulf Shores, Ala., for the third straight year and for the seventh time overall with its first-ever automatic bid.

 

  • The BeachBows finished the year with a 24-12  record and put together a season-long eight-match win streak before falling to No. 8 seed Loyola Marymount in the NCAA Round of 16. 

 

  • UH enjoyed three weeks in the Top 10 before finishing 11th in the final AVCA poll.

 

  • The BeachBows captured the Heineken Queen’s Cup with six straight wins and also produced a 5-1 record at the Big West Challenge in Northern California.  

 

  • WIth a victory over CSU Bakersfield at the Big West Championship, Kaylee Glagau became just the third Rainbow Wahine to win 100 career dual matches. The native of Mississauga, Canada finished her career with 103 wins. 

 

  • Senior Jaime Santer and Alana Embry were named to the All-America second team marking the 10th time in 12 seasons that UH has had at least one All-America citation.

 

  • Head coach Evan Silberstien earned Big West co-Coach of the Year honors for the second time in three seasons after leading UH to a conference title and a third straight NCAA bid under his tenure.

 

  • Four different pairs earned all-Big West honors, headlined by first-team honorees Santer and Embry as well as Riley Wagoner and Sydney Amiatu. Earning honorable mention were the duos Kaylee Glagau-Pani Napoleon and Anna Maidment-Sydney Miller.

KAYLEE GLAGAU WINS JACK BONHAM AWARD

Glagau earned the Jack Bonham Award, the University of Hawai‘i Athletics Department’s most prestigious honor, sharing the female award with Olivia Davies of Women's Basketball.

BIG WEST CHAMPIONS

UH secured its first Big West title since 2018 and fourth title in eight seasons as a member of the Big West.

UH earned its seventh NCAA Tournament and entered as the ninth-seed, taking on LMU in the opening round.
