Soccer Adds JUCO All-American to Signing Class

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team added a junior-college All-American to the 2024 roster with the signing of forward Wakaba Kogure of Tokyo, Japan.

UH head coach Michele Nagamine announced the addition of Kogure, who played two seasons at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Fla., and will join the Rainbow Wahine as a junior.

Kogure was named to the 2023 National Junior College Athletic Association Division I All-America first team after posting seven goals and seven assists in 16 games last fall. She was also named the NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Year after helping Daytona State finish 14-2 and advance to the finals of the regional tournament.

The two-time All-Region first-team selection scored 11 goals and had five assists in 2022 and was named the Region 8 Freshman of the Year and made the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region team.

Kogure maintained a 4.0 grade-point average at Daytona State and was also named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America second team for 2023-24 and made the NJCAA and FCSAA All-Academic teams during her career.

The Rainbow Wahine previously announced the signings of incoming freshmen Piper Bertani, Laule'a Ah Mook Sang, Alice Davidson, Rori Gartner and Nalani Damacion for the 2024 season.
