Coed Sailors Claim Third At PCCSC Team Race

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The University of Hawaii coed sailing team finished third at the PCCSC Team Race Championship this past weekend. Host Stanford, claimed the regatta title with an unscathed18-0 record, securing its spot in the ICSA Nationals taking place in Boston later this spring.

With optimal weather conditions on Saturday, seven teams were able to complete the triple round-robin in just one day. The Rainbow Sailors finished round two at an even 6-6 record, putting them in a tie with Cal Maritime entering the third round. UH went 4-2 in the final round with losses to the top two teams Stanford adn UC Santa Barbara and a key head-to-head win over Cal Maritme as UH finished with an 18-10 overall record to close out the regatta.

Erik Anderson, Kees Horn, Everett McAvoy, and Martha Schuessler skippered UH through the weekend. With crew members including Amanda Turner, Stella Taherian, Sophia Shaeffer, Peyton Lieser, and Kees Horn.

The UH coed team will be in Santa Barbara, Calif. this weekend, April 20-21, as they compete in the PCCSC Fleet Race Championship and seek a top two finish for a berth into the ICSA Nationals.
