Box Score 2 DAVIS, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (5-8, 0-1 Big West) split their final two matches to close out the Golden State Invitational on Saturday. The Rainbow Warriors fought their way to a 4-3 win over St. Mary's (CA) but fell in the tourney finale to Nevada, 4-2 at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

The Rainbow Warriors captured the doubles point to start the day. The Gaels earned the first win at No. 3 with Ramos and Grego defeating Sohta Uranao and Guillaume Tattein, 6-3. But the 'Bows battled back, taking the No. 2 match by a break with UH's
Quinn Snyder and
Andrew Somerville holding off Etchecoin and Lieutaud, 6-4. Hawai'i's No. 1 duo of
Andy Hernandez and
Karl Collins edged out SMC's Jarry and Maxant in a tie-breaker, 7-6 (4) to take the early 1-0 lead.
The Gaels got off to a hot start in singles, reeling off the first three wins—all by straight sets—at No. 6, 2, and 5. Hawai'i however fought their way back. UH's No. 1 Snyder knocked off Jarry, 7-5, 6-3 to start the come-from-behind rally. Hawai'i's Tattevin then took care of SMC's Maxant in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. UH's No. 4 Collins won the opening set but fell in a second set tiebreaker against Paul Hugo Etchecoin. Collins then cruised to clinched the match with a hard fought 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-1 victory.

In UH's second match, the Rainbow Warriors fought hard but fell just short to Nevada, 4-2 in the tourney finale.
The Wolf Pack secured the doubles point to start the match by holding of the Rainbow Warriors by a break on courts No. 1 and 3. UH's No. 1 duo of
Karl Collins and
Andy Hernandez fell to Nevada's Matheo Coupu and Yousseff Kadiri, 7-5, while on the No. 3 court Hawai'i's
Sohta Urano and
Guillaume Tattevin fell to UNR's Loris Valente and Rémy Trégourlès, 6-4.
Nevada went up 2-0 with Trégourlès downing UH's Urano on the No. 5 court, 6-2, 6-3. But Hawai'i knotted the score at 2-2 with No. 3 Tattevin defeating Loris Zisswiller in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 and No. 4 Collins knocking off Edgar Destouet, 6-3. 6-1.
The Wolf Pack would close out the win with Valente holding off UH's
Blue Cockle at No. 6, 6-1, 6-4.
Hawai'i will remain on the road to take on St. Mary's (CA) in Moraga, Calif. on Mon., March 11 and at San Francisco on March 12.
