HONOLULU – The third-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will host the 28th OUTRIGGER Invitational this week which features yet another stacked field. The tournament runs Thursday, March 7 through Sunday, March 10 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center and includes host UH, top-ranked Grand Canyon, No. 5 UC Irvine, and No. 14 Lewis. Last year's field attracted the top three teams in the country — UH, UCLA and Penn State, all three of whom made it to the semifinals of the NCAA Championship later that season.

Sunday (March 10) - MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT
- Members of the military past and present will be honored throughout the match.
- The men's volleyball team will don special military-inspired uniforms as a tribute to the military.

FIRST SERVE
- UH (14-1) has a current 13-match win streak entering this week's OUTRIGGER Invitational which is second-longest in the nation behind Grand Canyon (15).
- Hawai'i has 10 OUTRIGGER titles, including four of the last six (2016, '17, '19, '20) and an all-time tournament record of 50-29.
- Lewis (10-8) is making its eighth OUTRIGGER appearance and sports an 8-13 mark in the tournament. The Flyers finished runner-up at the OUTRIGGER in 2012 and '16 with a 2-1 record each year. Lewis split a pair of MIVA matches last week falling at Ohio State and defeating Purdue Fort Wayne.
- UC Irvine (12-4) has two previous OUTRIGGER appearances including a championship in 2015. The Anteaters also competed in 2020 and were runner-up to host UH. UCI enters the tournament with a six-match win streak.
- Grand Canyon (15-0) will be making its first OUTRIGGER appearance. GCU, who is the only unbeaten team in Division I-II, competed in the 2020 Rainbow Warrior Classic in Honolulu, finishing with a 1-2 mark.
- Hawai'i leads the all-time series with Lewis, 19-2, which includes a current six-match win streak and a 17-2 advantage in Honolulu. UH's last loss to the Flyers occurred at home in the 2012 OUTRIGGER.
- UH leads the series with Grand Canyon, 8-0, including a 7-0 mark in Honolulu.
- Hawai'i leads the series with UC Irvine, 48-22, including a current 14-match win streak dating back to 2018. UH also has a 25-9 advantage in Honolulu.
- UH has swept its last five opponents and has a current 18-set win streak.
- UH backup setter Kevin Kauling was a four-year starter at Lewis, appearing in 88 career matches for the Flyer and was a three-time All-American.
- UCI setter Brett Sheward lettered for UH from 2020-23 and was an honorable mention AVCA All-American for the Warriors last season at libero.
