HONOLULU — University of Hawai'i guards
Olivia Davies and
Lily Wahinekapu were named to the College Sports Communicators Women's Basketball Academic All-District team on Tuesday in recognition for their work on the court and in the classroom.
Davies, a graduate student, and Wahinekapu, a junior, helped UH capture the Big West regular-season championship and represented the Rainbow Wahine on NCAA Division I Academic All-District list.
The academic qualification for the Academic All-District teams is a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 90% of the season's games or started in 66% of the games.
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on April 16.
Olivia Davies, graduate student
• Earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology; working toward master's in Social Work
• Returned from injury to start 21 games in 27 appearances this season.
• Finished third on the team with 25 3-pointers and fourth with 38 assists
Lily Wahinekapu, junior
• Majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies
• Voted All-Big West second team
• Started 30 of UH's 31 games
• Led the team with 11.6 points per game, 347 total points and 125 field goals
• Second on the team with 65 assists and 38 steals
