Rainbow Sailors Capture Regatta In SoCal

LOS ANGELES -- The University of Hawaii coed sailing team took home its second regatta of the spring with a victory in the PCCSC South Designate, March 23-24, off the coast of Southern California. 

The Rainbows bested a loaded field of 22 other teams over the course of the two-day regatta. A total of 20 races - 10 each in the A and B divisions - were completed and UH led from nearly wire-to-wire. The' Bows finished with 68 points and a hefty 16-point margin from its nearest competitor in Stanford at 84. 

Erik Anderson and Amanda Turner sailed in the A division and placed first in half of their 10 races. Meanwhile, Trey Summers and Stella Taherian bested all teams in the B division, with 36 points while finishing in the top three in seven of 10 races. 

Next up for the Rainbows is the PCCSC Team Race Championship, April 13-14, in Redwood City, Calif.
