IRVINE, Calif.--University of Hawai'i women's tennis player Nelly Knezkova was named The Big West Women's Tennis Player of the Week after a pair of sweeps last week. This is the first weekly honor for the freshman from Prague, Czech Republic.

Knezkova won both her singles matches while splitting her doubles matches with partner Sheena Masuda. In singles, playing on the No. 2 court, Knezkova swept Illinois State's Lana Caculovic, 6-3, 6-3. She then made her debut playing at No. 1 notching a win over Pacific's Klara Kosan, 6-3, 6-2.

In doubles, the Rainbow Wahine No. 2 duo of Knezkova and Masuda powered through an earlier loss in the week and persevered over Pacific's Megan Carmichael and Alexis Sam, 6-3 to secure Hawai'i's lone doubles win for the day.

Knezkova is the third Rainbow Wahine to earn Player of the Week honors for 2024. Ana Vilcek earned the award on Jan. 17 and Nikola Homolkova garnered the honor on March 5th.

Currently, the 'Bows remain unbeaten in Big West play (4-0) while sporting a 6-5 overall record.
