QUICK HITS
- With matches at 10th-ranked California and eighth-ranked USC, UH will have played three of their last four matches against Top 10 teams in the NCAA (UH fell to No. 2 Michigan, 4-1 on 3/1).
- In UH's last dual match against Pacific, the Rainbow Wahine shuffled the top of their lineup with freshman Nelly Knezkova flipping up to play at No. 1 and junior Ana Vilcek sliding down to play No. 2.
- Knezkova has won four-straight matches and in the one that went unfinished, she was leading second-ranked Michigan's No. 18 Julia Fliegner, 6-3, 1-6, 4-0 when the match was finished. She has not dropped a set in her last four wins.
- After being ranked as high as No. 86 in the ITA poll (8/7/24), UH's Ana Vilcek had remained in the rankings until this week (3/19/24). Vilcek was ranked NO. 1010 on Feb. 20 and No. 124 on March 5th. Although she fell out of the rankings this week, she remains to be a solid force driving the top of the order. Last week, Vilcek went 1-0 with a match going unfinished. Her wins in both singles and doubles (with partner Nikola Homolkova at No. 1) helpd to propen UH to a hard fought 4-3 win over Cal State Fullerton.
- UH's Nikola Homolkova has been steady at No. 3. She like Knezkova has won four of her last five matches in straight sets. Her one blemish was when she had to retire in her match against Illinois State last week. But she bounced right back to shutout Pacific's Megan Carmichael, 6-0, 6-0 this past Saturday.
