• UH defeated UC San Diego 64-52 on Jan. 20 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. Lily Wahinekapu led the 'Bows with 16 points and Daejah Phillips finished with 15.

Daejah Phillips was named the Big West Player of the Week on Monday after helping UH to wins over Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine. The junior scored a season-high 22 points against Cal State Fullerton and contributed nine points, seven rebounds and three assists against UC Irvine.

Lily Wahinekapu leads UH with 10.5 points per game overall and 12.1 ppg in Big West games.

• UCSD also won both of its games last week and is led by freshman guard Sumayah Sugapong's 14.2 points per game. Sugapong and forward Damilola Sule scored 15 points each in the first meeting with UH.

DEFENDING THE CROWN

• UH enters the game first in the conference and 23nd nationally in scoring defense in allowing 56.0 points per game overall.

• UH opponents are shooting 36.5% on field-goal attempts overall, the lowest mark in the Big West and 25th in NCAA Division I.

* UH has held opponents to 25.1% shooting on 3-point attempts, which ranks first in the conference and eighth among 348 Division I teams.

• UH held an opponent without a 3-pointer for the first time since 2020 when UC Irvine went 0 for 15 on Feb. 3, 2024. The previous occasion came against Cal State Fullerton (0 for 10) on Jan. 23, 2020.

'BEEMAN'S BIG BASH' SET FOR FEB. 17

The Rainbow Wahine will take aim at the largest attendance figure of head coach Laura Beeman's 12-year tenure when the Rainbow Wahine host "Beeman's Big Bash" on Feb. 17 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

The 2014-15 Rainbow Wahine played their home finale before a Senior Night crowd of 4,340 on March 7, 2015 in Beeman's third year leading the program. This season's Rainbow Wahine squad will look to surpass that mark when they face UC Santa Barbara in a rematch of the 2023 Big West Championship game.
