IRVINE, Calif. – For the fourth time this season, University of Hawai'i setter
Tread Rosenthal was named the Big West's Freshman of the Week after leading the Rainbow Warriors to a two-match sweep of Missouri S&T last week.
His four freshman awards this season is the most in a single-season in program history surpassing
Guilherme Voss' three awards in 2020.
Rosenthal averaged 10.75 assists per set in just four sets of action in the two matches. The Manhattan Beach, Calif., native also recorded three aces, four digs (1.00 d/s), and five blocks (1.25 b/s).
In the series opener, he dished out 19 assists and had four blocks in two sets played. The following night, he recorded 24 assists and three aces in two sets. For the series, he helped the Rainbow Warriors to a .440 hitting percentage.
Rosenthal currently ranks first in the Big West and No. 9 nationally in aces per set (0.538) and second in the conference and No. 9 nationally in assists per set (10.10). As a team, UH ranks No. 1 nationally in hitting percentage (.413).
Rosenthal and the Rainbow Warriors continue their 11-match homestand with a pair of matches against Sacred Heart, Friday, March 1 and Sunday, March 3.
