The Rainbow Warriors are heading into year three under head coach Timmy Chang and are coming off of a 5-8 season in which they won three of their last four games, highlighted by home wins over Air Force and Colorado State.
UH welcomes back its top six leading receivers from 2023 led by freshman All-American
Pofele Ashlock and 1,000-yard receiver
Steven McBride. Quarterback
Brayden Schager also returns for his senior season after throwing for 3,542 yards and 26 TDs last year.
Hawai'i also returns four of its top five leading tacklers and all four players who came away with an interception in 2023, led by safety
Peter Manuma who led the team with 87 tackles and three picks.
The Rainbow Warrior coaching staff will also feature some new, but veteran faces. Chang hired former NFL defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman to oversee the UH defense while also bringing back Jeff Reinebold to coach the defensive tackles.
Dan Morrison re-joined the UH coaching staff as the quarterbacks coach, returning to the position he held from 2000-07 mentoring some of the most prolific passers in both Hawai'i and NCAA history. Anthony Arceneaux also returns home to the islands to work with the running backs after spending two seasons coaching wide receivers at Nevada.
