Men's Volleyball Hosts First-Time Opponent Missouri S&T In Non-Conference Series

HONOLULU – The third-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team returns to the court after an off-week for a two-match, non-conference series against Missouri S&T, Thursday, Feb. 22 and Friday, Feb. 23 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m. The Rainbow Warriors (10-1) and Miners (8-6) will meet for the first time.
 
Promotions & Giveaways:
Thursday (Feb. 22)
  • Hawaiian Financial Federal Credit Union is the sponsor of "Family Day" and will distribute 1,000 First Aid Packs (Gate A). Families will have the opportunity to create their own "fan board" at the Hawaiian Financial FCU table located near Gate A . Keiki can visit Spirit Stations on the concourse for fun activities for the family including face painting, balloon making and tattoo artist. 
Ticket Promotion:
  • The "Family Pack" promotion is available for all regular season home matches. With the purchase of two adult tickets, fans will receive one youth (ages 4-high school) ticket free for every youth ticket purchased (maximum of two free tickets). "Family Pack" tickets can be purchased at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center Box Office in advance and or on game day.
Friday (Feb. 23):
  • Revolusun is the sponsor of  "Love Your Pet Day" and will award great prizes throughout the game. In celebration of Love Your Pet Day, the Hawaiian Humane Society and some of their four-legged fans will be featured during the match. 
  • An autograph session with the Rainbow Warrior volleyball team will follow Friday's match (Gate B).

FIRST SERVE
  • Missouri S&T is one of three first-time opponents on UH's schedule this season along with Tusculum and Sacred Heart.
  • Missouri S&T, a Division II school located in Rolla, Mo., began playing men's volleyball in 2023 and compete as an independent. The Miners concluded their inaugural season with a 12-9 record.
  • Missouri S&T is coached by Ryan Thompson, who is in his first season with the Miners and fifth overall after previously coaching at Division III Wittenberg, where he compiled a 44-49 mark in four seasons.
  • UH (10-1) has a current nine-match win streak entering this week's match-up while the Miners (8-6) played three matches last week going 2-1 with wins over Roosevelt and Cumberline and a loss to Maryville.
  • UH is 7-1 at home this season while Missouri S&T is 1-5 on the road.
  • Missouri S&T is 0-3 all-time against nationally-ranked teams.
  • UH has a 60-match win streak at home against unranked NCAA opponents dating back to the 2012 season (last loss vs. UC San Diego, Jan. 6).

  • OH Spyros Chakas needs one ace to reach 100 in his career. The senior has also reached double figures in kills in each of his last six matches played and in eight of nine contests this season.
  • Following this week's series, UH will face another first-time opponent Sacred Heart, March 1 & 3 at SimpliFi Arena. Sacred Heart, a Division I school located in Fairfield, Conn., competes in the Northeast Conference.
