Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team continued their SoCal swing with a loss at San Diego State, 7-0. The two teams squared off on Wednesday at the Aztec Tennis Center.
 
The Aztecs started the match by sweeping the doubles matches winning on the No. 1 and 2 courts to earn the first point. On the No. 1 court, SDSU's  Yasmine Kabbaj and Myah Petchey defeated Ana Vilcek and Nelly Knezkova, 6-2. The Aztecs' Andjela Skrobonja and Andreea Velcea pulled away from UH's Sheena Masuda and Nikola Homolkova, 6-1.
 
San Diego State took their momentum into singles winning the first three in straight sets, but the final three were decided by third set super tie-breakers.  The Aztecs swept matches at No's. 2, 1, and 6 to clinch the win. On the No. 4 court, UH's Sheena Masuda won the first set, but SDSU's Gloria Alogo tied things at 1-1 and outlasted Masuda in the super tie-breaker, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (7). Hawai'i's No. 3 Nikola Homolkova also won the first set, but was unable to hold the lead falling to Mya Petchey, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (2). Joelle Lanz fought back after losing the first set to win the second, but came up short in the tie-breaker, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (7).
 
The Rainbow Wahine will close out their tour of San Diego on Friday as they take on the Torerros on Feb. 16 at 12:00 p.m. HT at the Skip and Cindy Tennis Center.
