Historic Season Comes to an End in Big West Semis

WAIPAHU, O'ahu – The Hawai'i women's soccer team saw its historic 2024 season come to an end with a 3-0 loss to Cal State Bakersfield in the Big West semifinals Thursday at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

The Rainbow Wahine finish the season at 12-8-1 having won their Big West regular season title behind an 8-1-1 conference record. UH accomplished a number of program firsts including a school-record for conference victories while the nine-match unbeaten streak from Sept. 12-Oct., 20 was the longest in school history.

UH out-shot CSUB, 21-8, but fell behind early on a penalty kick before a pair of goals less than three minutes apart in the second half put the 'Bows in a deeper hole.

The Roadrunners struck first on an Anela Nigito penalty kick goal in the 26th minute. After a replay review determined that a foul was committed by a Hawai'i player inside the box.

Bakersfield added to its lead with a two goals in quick succession in the second half. Cynthia Ramirez scored on a breakaway goal in the 63rd minute before Megan Ormison headed in another score off a corner kick in the 66th minute to make it 3-0.
