Beach Volleyball Heads To The Garden Isle This Weekend

HONOLULU -- The nationally-ranked University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball concludes its fall season with a trip to the Garden Isle. UH will host the second annual Kauai Invitational in a mix of competition and community outreach, Nov. 22-24 at Kalapaki Beach in Lihue.

The event will include three days of collegiate beach volleyball as UH welcomes 2024 NCAA national runner-up UCLA as well as NCAA semifinalist and Big West rival Cal Poly. The weekend will also be highlighted by a Keiki Play Day on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 8 am - 9:30 am. The interactive session will allow keiki to meet, greet and learn from players and coaches. Among those on hand will be 2008 Olympic gold medalist Todd Rogers (Cal Poly) and 2000 Olympian Jenny Johnson (UCLA).

Admission is free for a weekend packed with elite women's beach volleyball competition. Matches will  be streamed live at KauaiBeachVolleyball.org throughout the weekend.

"Building on last year's successful launch has been a priority and a major target for our program in 2024," said head coach Evan Silberstein. "What we have found again and again in this process is that the ingenuity, hospitality and Aloha from the people of Kauai is the driving force for what makes this event so special to our players and the visiting schools that get to be a part of it. We are all very grateful.

Bringing the best competition in the country to the community while getting to share that with the keiki of Kauai is powerfully synergistic. For me, this event symbolizes so much of what's great about Hawai`i Athletics in our state. It fuels my passion to represent, deepens my kuleana to serve and stokes my drive to succeed. I hope everyone can tune in to the stream to get some of the magic we'll be making out on the beach."
