Rainbow Sailors Finish Fifth At PCCSC Fall Championship

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The University of Hawaii coed sailing team concluded its fall season with a fifth-place finish in the Fall Pacific Coast Championship hosted by UC Santa Barbara, Nov. 18-19.

After a short delay on Saturday due to a king tide, 19 teams competed in 24 races split between the A, B, and C divisions. Stanford easily pulled ahead to win the event with 60 total points. The UH sailing team placed fifth with 160 points.

Erik Anderson and Amanda Turner sailed in the A division, while Everett McAvoy and Sophia Shaeffer competed in the B division. Vivian Bønsager, Kees Horn, and Malia Johnson all raced in the C division. The three teams scored 64, 49, and 47 points respectively with UH's A team scoring the highest finish in their division at 5th.

The Rainbows now look ahead to the spring season with their next event, the Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite, set for Jan. 18-19 at Keehi Lagoon.
