COLFAX, Wash. – Emilie Kirk Langschwager turned in the best finish at an NCAA Regional by a Hawai'i runner in eight years to lead the Rainbow Wahine cross country team to a 26th-place finish the NCAA West Regionals Friday morning.
Kirk Langschwager finished 57th in the 6k race with a time of 20:53.1, posting the highest finish by a UH individual at a regional meet since 2016 (Camille Campos – 36th). It also marks the second consecutive year that the sophomore has paced the Rainbow Wahine at the NCAA West Regional after she posted a 71st-place finish as a freshman in 2023.
As a team, the Rainbow Wahine posted the program's best NCAA Regional finish since 2016 and have improved their regional performance each of the last three seasons.
Sariah Hernandez was the second UH runner to cross the line, running a 21:45.9 to come in 118th while
Gemma Warman ran a 22:12.2 to come in 158th.
Zola O'Donnell stopped the clock in 22:26.3 and placed 189th while
Lucy Becker finished in the UH top five for the first time, running a 22:50.7 to come in 216th overall.
