Beach Volleyball Lands Prized East Coast Recruit

HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball head coach Evan Silberstein announced that Kiera Cornman has signed with the BeachBows and will join the program next fall.

The 5-10 Cornman, who hails from Fairport, New York, is UH's first-ever recruit from the Empire State. She is one of the state's top indoor players and an elite beach prospect having trained in the USA Beach National Team Development program.

"Kiera is an absolute hammer," Silberstein said. "She brings with her a lively arm, an increasingly high IQ on the beach and a mindset that's determined to be the very best in whatever she endeavors. Kiera is on par with the very best recruits in the country this year. She has a promising future ahead in Mānoa as she ventures forth from upstate New York to a new chapter here in the islands next fall."

This past spring Cornman was named to VolleyballMags' Girls Beach Fab 50 Underclassman to Watch list. A member of the Snowstorm Beach Volleyball Club, she's been a dominant force in the New York Outdoor Volleyball Association, going undefeated over the last few years. She has also competed in numerous beach events north of the border as part of the top ranked U17 team in Canada last year.

Cornman's indoor career has been equally stellar. She just led Fairport High School to its third straight sectional title as the team looks to defend its 2023 New York Class AAA state championship. Cornman has more than 1000 career kills, having reached the milestone before her junior season concluded.
