HONOLULU – Coming off of its best finish at the Big West Championships in eight years, the Hawai'i women's cross country team continues postseason action at the NCAA West Regional Friday morning in Colfax, Wash.
The Rainbow Wahine will send a squad of seven student-athletes to the west regional at Colfax Golf Club for the 6k race.
UH matched its best-ever finish at the Big West Championships since re-joining the conference, coming in fifth to tie the 2016 team's performance. Hawai'i edged Long Beach State by a single point with a total of 149 and were led by a pair of top-11 finishers in
Lucy Milliner and
Emilie Kirk Langschwager.
Milliner earned all-conference honors with a ninth-place finish in 20:24.2, marking the best finish by a UH runner at the conference title meet since 2016 (Camille Campos). Kirk Langschwager narrowly missed out on claiming all-conference honors, placing 11th with a time of 20:39.9.
The 'Bows sat in sixth place for most of the race, but got a strong closing kick from their next three runners to push past Long Beach State.
Sariah Hernandez came in 33rd with a time of 21:06.4 while
Zola O'Donnell finished 46th with a personal-best of 21:27.1.
Gemma Warman rounded out the UH scorers, coming in 64th with a PR of 22:00.6, just one second and one place ahead of a top-seven Long Beach State runner to push the 'Bows into the top five.
On the season, the Rainbow Wahine have turned in three top-five team finishes while Milliner has placed in the top 10 in all five meets and Kirk Langschwager has been in the top 15 in each meet this year.
