Justin Repeats as Big West Defensive Player of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. – For the second straight week, Hawai'i goalkeeper Kennedy Justin earned Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors following a pair of shutouts at UC San Diego and UC Irvine.

Justin has recorded five straight clean sheets, the longest shutout streak ever by a Rainbow Wahine keeper, and has given up just one goal in conference play. The redshirt freshman made seven saves in Thursday's 1-0 win at UC San Diego before adding three more saves to lead the 'Bows to a 0-0 draw at UC Irvine Sunday.

Dating back to a Sept. 22 match vs. Hawai'i Pacific, Justin has now gone 453 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal. The UH keeper has organized a back line that has surrendered fewer than 10 shots in five of the last six matches, giving up just 8.7 attempts per match over that stretch.

On the season, Justin ranks second in the conference goals against average at 1.079 and is second in the league with her five shutouts. The five shutouts also rank tied for fourth in a season in school history while already moving her into the UH top 10 in career clean sheets.

Justin is the first player in the conference this year to win defensive player of the week honors back-to-back times and the first Hawai'i player to do so since 2017 (Alexis Mata). She is also the first player since Mata in 2019 to earn multiple Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors in a season.
