Men's Tennis Wraps Up Hawai‘i Fall Invitational

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team wrapped up the Hawai'i Fall Invitational at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Warriors won all three of their doubles matches and six out of their nine singles matches on Sunday.

In doubles, the UH duo of Quinn Snyder and Azuma Visaya defeated Hawai'i Pacific's Mile Matic and Julius Hell by a break, 7-5. Diego Dalisay and Sohta Urano combined forces to defeat Sharks' pair of Adam Vasir and Finnegan Heber, 6-4, while Karl Collins and Andy Hernandez knocked off the Vulcans' duo of Sergi Tintore and Jaime Paquet, 6-2.

In Sunday's first round of singles, UH's Synder fired a shutout over Hawai'i Hilo's Luca Matheiowetz, 6-0, 6-0. Visaya held on for a tough win past HPU's Matic, 6-4, 6-4. Hawai'i's Diego Dalisay defeated UHH's Iori Furuhata in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, while UH's Andy Hernandez battled hard but fell in two to UHH's Jaime Paquet, 6-4, 6-4.

In Sunday's second round of singles matches, UH's Visaya nearly blanked UHH's Jaime Paquet in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. UH's Karl Collins fought back for the win after dropping the second set to edge out HPU's Julius Hell in a third set super tie-breaker, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (8). UH's Sohta Urano was able to bounce back after dropping the first set against UHH's Jacob Pearce. Urano was down 3-4 in Set 2, but won the last three games to capture Set 2 and then took the momentum into the super tie-breaker to win, 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (5). Angus Hill also competed on the court but fell to Vulcans' Sergi Tintore, 6-3, 6-2.

The Rainbow Warriors will head to Tempe, Ariz. to compete in the ITA Regional Championships from Thursday, Oct. 17 - Tuesday, Oct. 22.
