FIRST SERVE
  • Hawai'i leads the all-time series 15-5.
  • UH has won the last three meetings in the series — a semifinal match-up at the 2022 NCAA Championship in Los Angeles, Calif., and a two-match regular season series in Honolulu to open the 2023 campaign.
  • BSU won the only two meetings in Muncie, Ind., during the 2022 regular season. The Cardinals upset top-ranked UH in straight sets in the opener and in five sets in the rematch. Among the four notable Rainbow Warriors who missed the series due to health and safety protocols or injuries included starters MB Guilherme Voss and OH Chaz Galloway.
  • UH head coach Charlie Wade has a 5-3 record against Ball State which includes a pair of wins over the Cardinals in the 2017 and 2019 OUTRIGGER Volleyball Invitational and a loss in the 2011 OUTRIGGER Invitational.
  • UH has a 64-13 (.831) combined record against current members of the MIVA, including a 3-1 mark this season after a series split with Loyola Chicago and series sweep of Purdue Fort Wayne. UH will also play MIVA member Lewis (March 7) as part of the OUTRIGGER Invitational.
  • UH has won its last 14 road matches dating back to 2022. Its last road loss was against Long Beach State (April 1 & 2).
  • BSU dropped its last two matches, both at the First Point Volleyball Foundation Collegiate Challenge in Austin, Texas to USC and Stanford.
  • The Cardinals are 7-0 at home this season while UH is 2-0 on the road.
  • MB Kurt Nusterer is a 2021 graduate of Columbus North High School in Columbus, Ind., and his parents reside in Indianapolis, Ind. Head coach Charlie Wade is from Warsaw, Ind.
  • OH Spyros Chakas needs four aces to move into the school's Top 10 in career aces. Currently the senior has 95 aces. Naveh Milo is 10th with 99.
  • Following this week's road trip, UH begins an 11-match homestand spanning six weeks from Feb. 2 (Tusculum) through March 10 (UC Irvine).
