HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team takes on Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday, Jan. 4 to open their first Big West homestand of the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. The Rainbow Wahine will cap the weekend against CSUN at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
UH opened the Big West season with a 59-49 win at Cal State Fullerton on Dec. 30 and Thursday's matchup with Cal State Bakersfield will be the team's first home game in just over a month. The Rainbow Wahine played just three games in December and defeated San Jose State 73-47 on Dec. 3 in their last home appearance.

• Thursday's game will be the 16th meeting between Hawai'i and Cal State Bakersfield. The Rainbow Wahine lead the series with the Roadrunners 10-5 and have won the last seven meetings. UH is 5-0 against Cal State Bakersfield in Honolulu.
• UH won its conference opener for the third straight season and picked up its first road win of the season with last Saturday's victory at Cal State Fullerton.
• The win at Cal State Fullerton marked the third time this season UH held an opponent under 50 points. The Rainbow Wahine rank second in the Big West in scoring defense at 58.9 points allowed per game. UH opponents are shooting 37.4% on field-goal attempts overall, the lowest mark in the Big West.
• Senior guard Ashley Thoms set a career high by hitting her first four 3-point attempts at Cal State Fullerton and scored a season-high 12 points coming off the bench. UH held a 25-4 advantage in bench points in the game.
• Sophomore forward Imani Perez returned from her first absence of the season to post eight points and nine rebounds against Cal State Fullerton. She enters the week leading the team with 8.9 points per game and is second with 5.4 rebounds per game while averaging a team-high 30.8 minutes per game.
• Perez is tied for second on the team with nine 3-pointers and is shooting a team-best 45% on 20 attempts. She went 6 for 19 from 3-point range last season. She leads the team in overall field-goal percentage at .500 for the season.
• Guard Kelsie Imai provided a spark off the bench at Cal State Fullerton, matching her season high with nine points on 4-for-5 shooting. She also set a season high with five rebounds and set a career best with four steals.
• Cal State Bakersfield opened Big West play with a 52-48 win over UC San Diego at home on Dec. 28 and lost at UC Irvine 71-48 on Dec. 30. Roadrunners guard Shaunae Brown ranks second in the Big West in scoring with 15.55 points per game overall.
