Box Score HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (0-2) fell to Arkansas, 7-0 on a chilly, Friday, Jan. 12 at the UH Tennis Complex. The two teams had about a 40 minute rain delay in the middle of singles action.
In doubles, UH's No. 2 duo of
Karl Collins and
Andrew Somerville hung tough against Arkansas' Melvin Manuel and Jared Horwood, but eventually fell by a break, 5-7. At No. 1 the Razorbacks' Gerard Planelles Ripoll and Alan Sau Franco doubled up on UH's
Quinn Snyder and
Andy Hernandez, 6-3.
In singles, Hawai'i's Hernandez won his first set against Bozo Barun. But Barun came from behind to win set two then held off Hernandez in the third set super tie-breaker, 2-6, 5-7, 1-0 (5).
The Rainbow Warriors have a couple of weeks off before they compete in the UNLV Quad from Jan. 26-28. UH will take on host UNLV, New Mexico State, UC Riverside and Weber State.
