Ashlock Repeats As Freshman of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second consecutive week, University of Hawai'i wide receiver Pofele Ashlock was named the Mountain West's Freshman of the Week after another standout performance in the team's loss to Stanford last Friday.

The Euless, Texas native eclipsed 100-yards receiving for the second straight week becoming the first UH freshman to accomplish that feat in the Division I era. Ashlock finished with a team-best eight catches for 114 yards and two touchdowns against the Cardinal.

He is also the first Rainbow Warrior player to surpass 100-yards receiving in the first two games of a season since 2018 (John Ursua at Colorado State, vs. Navy).

Ashlock's first score was a 7-yarder in the second quarter that tied the game at 7-7. He later hauled in a 16-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. The freshman also reeled in a 38-yard catch in the third quarter, his third 30+ yard reception of the season.

On the year, the Trinity High School product leads the FBS with 241 yards receiving and has three receiving touchdowns among his team-best 15 receptions.

The league's other award winners were Fresno State quarterback Mikey Keene, Fresno State linebacker Levelle Bailey, and Wyoming placekicker John Hoyland.
