Napoleon Returns; Two Others Join Beach Volleyball Program

HONOLULU -- University of Hawai'i beach volleyball head coach Evan Silberstein announced the arrival of three new players to the 2024 roster, highlighted by the return of Pani Napoleon to the program.

Napoleon, who was at UH from 2018 to 2021, is back on the Manoa campus after spending the last two years at UCLA. Napoleon, who earned her undergraduate degree from UH in 2021, has one year of eligibility remaining.

"Having Pani back is special," Silberstein said. "She's a proven leader in our program who will make an immediate impact on the court. She creates meaningful momentum in our team culture with her infectious work ethic and desire to be great."

The native of Bonita, Calif., was the Big West Freshman of the Year in 2019 and a key member of that year's squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament. During her redshirt freshman campaign she went 30-9 and set a UH record with Morgan Martin while winning 40 straight sets over the course of 20 matches. She was a two-time all-conference player in her only two full seasons at UH, including first-team honors in 2021.

Meanwhile, Silberstein also announced the addition of two other standouts to the team. Alana Embry went 43-0 with former BeachBow Madi Bogle at Grossmont College to earn the 2023 junior college state championship. The San Diego native, was previously a setter for the New Mexico State indoor program. Meanwhile, the left-handed Kristen Serrano also joins the program after coming from the University of Guam.

UH is coming off a 2023 campaign that saw the team go 27-9 overall and earn their second straight NCAA Tournament bid.
