HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i women's golf head coach Julie Brooks announced three new additions for the 2023-24 season with the signing of transfers Jordyn Parr of San Jose State, Emiko Sverduk of Washington State, and Kellie Yamane of Hawai'i Pacific University.
"I am very excited that Jordyn, Emiko and Kellie will be joining the team in the fall," Brooks said. "They have played great golf at their respective schools and I think they will contribute to the team right away."
Parr spent three seasons at SJSU, where she competed in 47 career tournaments for a team that consistently ranked among the top teams nationally. The two-time Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar averaged 75.62 strokes per round over her three seasons with the Spartans. The Temecula, Calif., native posted two career Top 20 finishes including a tie for 13
th at the Ilini Women's Invitational last fall, where she carded a 54-hole career-low score of 7-under 209.
"Jordyn is coming from a top 10 program and her experience and leadership will help the team get better quickly," Brooks said.
A four-time all-league honoree at Temecula Valley High School, Parr competed in five tournaments as a sophomore in 2021-22 and averaged 75.87 strokes per round. As a true freshman in 2020-21, she competed in eight events with a 75.83 scoring average.
Sverduk competed in eight tournaments in her lone season at WSU, finishing with a 77.83 scoring average. The Long Beach, Calif., native's best 54-hole score was 226 at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate. She also competed in the Pac-12 Championship and posted a season-low 74 in the second round.
"Emiko played some great golf in her first year at Washington State and I look forward to watching her grow as a player over the next three years and be the leader of the team," Brooks said.
A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Sverduk, whose career-low round is 66, won the California Interscholastic Federation's Southern California Golf Association SoCal Girls High School Championship last June. In addition, she won the Moore League twice and was named the Century Club Long Beach Golfer of the Year.
Yamane spent two seasons at crosstown HPU. She finished runner-up in last week's Mānoa Cup, including a win over the top seed in her run to the finals. The 'Iolani School graduate completed her sophomore season at HPU with a tie for 10
th place at the PacWest Championship. Earlier in the year, the 'Aiea, O'ahu native carded a 5-under 67 to place third at the HPU Sharks Shootout.
"Kellie comes to the team from Hawai'i Pacific University, a D-II school, but Kellie is a D-I player all the way and I think she will get better every day," Brooks said.
After earning second-team all-Interscholastic League of Honolulu honors at 'Iolani, Yamane went on to compete in all nine tournaments as a freshman at HPU. She finished second on the team in scoring average that season and posted one Top 10.
