LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of Hawai'i football team was picked 10
th in the Mountain West Preseason Poll released Wednesday on the opening day of the league's media days held at the Circa Resort and Hotel.
In the first year of the new non-divisional format, the Rainbow Warriors received 102 votes to place 10
th among the 12 teams. Boise State was the preseason favorite, receiving 28 of the 37 first place votes and 433 total points, followed by Air Force (2; 364), Fresno State (5; 351), and San Diego State (1; 338). Rounding out the poll was San José State (293), Wyoming (281), Colorado State (201), Utah State (194), UNLV (177), UH, Nevada (92), and New Mexico (60).
The top two teams with the highest conference winning percentage will compete in the MW Football Championship Game on Dec. 2, 2023.
In addition, the preseason all-conference was announced and UH cornerback
Cam Stone was the Rainbow Warriors' lone representative. Stone, a transfer from Wyoming, was an honorable mention all-MW pick last season for the Cowboys.

Chevan Cordeiro was the preseason offensive player of the year while Wyoming linebacker Easton Gibbs earned the defensive player of the year nod. San Diego State kicker/punter Jack Browning was the preseason special teams player of the year.
Wyoming had a league-best five preseason selections while SDSU and Air Force had four each.
