Chang Welcomes New Football Support Staff

HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i head football coach Timmy Chang announced four staff members to his 2023 coaching staff – Reyn Shiraishi as director of football operations; Savannah Reier as director of recruiting; Ryan Ishihara as assistant strength and conditioning coach, and Jack Ray as special teams analyst.

Shiraishi assumes the new role after spending last season as the assistant director of football operations. He joined the football staff in May 2022 as a recruiting intern after earning his bachelor's degree from Washington State, where he majored in entrepreneurial studies. The Honolulu native is a graduate of Hawai'i Baptist Academy.

Reier, a former Rainbow Wahine basketball player, was the director of player development for the women's basketball team last season. A native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., she played two seasons for UH from 2018-20, appearing in 58 career games. Following her playing career, she joined the Nevada women's basketball program as a graduate assistant before returning to head coach Laura Beeman's staff. Reier earned her master's degree from Nevada this month.

Ishihara spent the last two years as a graduate assistant in the strength and conditioning department, where he also worked with the Rainbow Wahine swimming and diving team that captured the 2023 MPSF Championship. The 'Ewa Beach, O'ahu native was the head strength coach at Sherwood High School in Oregon for three years while also serving as head athletic trainer at the school. He earned his bachelor's degree in athletic training from Linfield University in 2016 and was a member of the football team. Ishihara prepped at Honolulu's Moanalua High School where he lettered in football and soccer.

Ray spent the last season at Washington State as a defensive graduate assistant. He also had stints at Nevada, where he worked with the special teams from 2019-21, and at his alma mater Arkansas Pine Bluff. At Nevada, he assisted the special teams coordinator with film breakdown/scouting reports and practice and game evaluations. At the end of the 2021 season, Ray served as Nevada's interim special teams coordinator for the Quick Lane Bowl against Western Michigan. Ray was a two-year starter at long snapper at UAPB, where he earned his degree in accounting in 2019.
