Rainbow Wahine Sailors Finish 14th In National Semifinals

KINGS POINT, N.Y.  – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine sailing team concluded its 2022-23 campaign by finishing in 14th place in the ICSA Women's National Semifinals. The Rainbow Wahine looked to advance to the finals for the first time in more than a decade but fell short of the top-nine semifinal finish needed to advance to the final two days of competition.

The 'Bows were 14th after the first day of competition and remained there for the duration of the semifinals. Weather proved a detriment for any possible run to the top nine for UH. The regatta was grounded for much of the day due to lack of wind. The teams were unable to hit the water until late afternoon and only four races were completed on day two of competition.

UH finished with 204 total points in 16 overall races. Mercy Tangredi and Sophia Shaeffer tallied 103 points  in the A Division while Morgan CarewQuinn Gladstone-Lamas and Taylor Ledgerwood finished with 101 points while competing in the B division.

Still, it was another successful year for the Rainbow Wahine who made it to the women's nationals for the second straight season and the 20th time overall in program history.
