Kim, Takamura Tabbed CSS Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind.—University of Hawai'i women's tennis players Madison Kim and Satsuki Takamura both earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District team for their efforts on the court and in the classroom in his final year at Hawai'i.
 
Both Kim and Takamura received their bachelor's degrees this past week—Kim in Animal Science and Takamura in Communications. The two were key contributors to the Rainbow Wahine tennis team which made history by winning both the Big West regular season and tournament titles in the same year. They helped lead UH to its third NCAA Tennis Team Championships where the 'Bows fell in the first round to 13th-seed Oklahoma.
 
Kim, a Menlo, Calif.-native, recorded an 11-9 singles record playing primarily on the No. 5 and 6 courts. In doubles, she led UH with a 12-5 overall record and recorded a 8-2 mark when partnered with Takamura.
 
Takamura, a senior from Saitama, Japan, finished the season strong, winning 10 of her last 11 matches. For the season, she recorded a team-best overall record of 15-5 and a 8-1 mark in conference. She went 12-3 on the No. 3 court. After earned honorable mention honors in singles in both 2021 and '22, Takamura was voted to the All-BW Second Team.
 
The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top studentathletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Student-Athlets must carry at least a cumulative 3.50 GPA while playing in at least 50% of their team's matches.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced May 31.
