Coed Sailors Finish Third At PCCSC Team Race

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The University of Hawaii coed sailing team placed third at the PCCSC Team Race Championship held April 8-9 in the Bay Area. Host Stanford claimed the regatta and with it a berth to the ICSCA Nationals later this spring.

Saturday brought ideal weather conditions as eight different schools commenced head-to-head competition. UH went 11-3 during the double round-robin competition of Day 1 with two of the losses coming to Stanford which went entirely unscathed during the entire weekend (21-0). The Rainbows sat in second place heading into Sunday and went 4-3 in the final round of action to finish with a 15-6 overall mark on the weekend. UC Santa Barbara also went 15-6 during the regatta and won the tie-breaker having defeated UH in two out of three head-to-head meetings.

Bastien Rasse, Erik Anderson, Owen Lahr and Trey Summers skippered for UH over the weekend. Crew members included Kelsie Grant, Everett McAvoy, Chloe Long and Frances Tarpey-Schwed.

The coed team will next compete in their home waters when they host the PCCSC Fleet Race Championship, April 22-23, at Keehi Lagoon.
