IRVINE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team placed a record six members on the All-Big West first team and another on the All-Freshman Team as selected by the league's six head coaches.

Kurt Nusterer was named to the all-freshman team.
Regular season co-champion UH led all Big West teams with the six first-team selections among the 14 honorees while co-champion Long Beach State had four. The individual awards for Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, April 25.
Among UH's selections, Thelle, Chakas, and Voss received first-team honors last season while Mouchlias was honorable mention. Galloway and Sheward are first-time honorees.
Thelle, last year's Big West Player of the Year, is the frontrunner for the award again this season. The Tonsberg, Norway native leads the country in assist per set (10.76) while directing one of the nation's top offenses. He is on the verge of breaking the program's all-time record for service aces, needing two more to break the mark.
Mouchlias leads the Big West and ranks No. 11 nationally in kills per set (3.93) and hitting percentage (.395). The junior from Soufli, Greece, leads the team with 17 matches in double-digit kills. Chakas, a junior from Nea Smyrni, Greece, is the team leader in service aces (34) while also ranking second in kills (3.59) and digs (1.53).
Voss, a junior from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, leads the team in blocking (1.13), which ranks No. 2 in the conference, while also averaging 1.74 kills per set, hitting a team-best .576. Sheward, a junior from Newport Beach, Calif., has started all 28 matches, including 23 at libero where he averaged a team-best 2.13 digs per set, which ranks second in the Big West and 12
th nationally. Galloway, a junior from San Diego, Calif., has stepped up big in conference play, ranking second on the team in kills (3.00), hitting at a .389 clip in Big West matches, the latter of which is second-best league-wide.
Nusterer, a redshirt freshman from Indianapolis, Ind., has appeared in 11 matches with four starts and averaging 1.36 kills and 0.77 blocks per set.
