Mouchlias Wins Second Career AVCA Weekly Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Hawai'i opposite Dimitrios Mouchlias was named the AVCA National Player of the Week after leading the Rainbow Warriors to a two-match sweep of No. 5 UC Irvine last week in Honolulu.
 
Mouchlias, a junior from Soufli, Greece, averaged 5.00 kills per set and 6.21 points per set in the series. He led the team in kills both nights with a season-high 23 in the series opener on Friday and a team-high 12 in the rematch on Saturday. He hit .446 for the series with only six errors in 65 attempts.
 
The Greek also led the team with 1.43 digs per set and 1.14 blocks per set. He had a career-high six blocks in opener and tallied three aces and a team-high seven digs in the rematch.
 
The award is Mouchlias' second of his career and second by a Rainbow Warrior this season. Mouchlias also received the award after last season's UCI series.
 
UH closes out the regular season with a pair of matches against UC San Diego, Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. Mouchlias and five other Rainbow Warriors will be honored following Saturday's match during the traditional Senior Night ceremony.
