HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team made it a Senior Day to remember by picking up a 6-1 win over UC San Diego at the UH Tennis Complex on Saturday morning. Hawai'i improved 7-1 in conference and 10-6 overall, while UC San Diego fell to 1-5 in conference and 7-11 overall.
 
In doubles play, UC San Diego's Sophie Pearson and Adriana Tabares won the first match of the day against UH's Anna Kern and Alexis Merrill. However, UH's top duo Rita Pinto and Klara Novaklova came back for the win over UCSD's Kelly Leung and Ella Pachl, 7-5. Madison Kim and Satsuki Takamura went into a tiebreaker against the Triton duo of Rachel Wagner and Katelyn Vu, finishing on top at 7-6(5) to give the 'Bows an early 1-0 lead.
 
The Rainbow Wahine went on to win the first two singles matches in straight sets, taking a 3-0 lead over the Tritons. In the third singles match, UCSD's Katelyn Vu tallied the first point of the day winning over UH's Madison Kim, but Homolkova picked up a straight-set win at the No. 2 spot to clinch the win for the Rainbow Wahine. Playing out the remaining matches, Novakova earned another win in straight sets while Hawai'i's No. 3 Takamura marked another win in a super tiebreaker against Sophie Pearson, 6-1, 7-6 (5), 1-0 (5). 
 
Following the match, seniors Takamura, Merrill, Pinto and Kim were celebrated by friends and family on the courts.  
 
The Rainbow Wahine will now hit the road for a three-match road trip beginning at UC Davis, April 11 in Davis, California.
