Rainbow Wahine with Four All-Conference Selections

HONOLULU- On Monday, the Big West office announced its selection for All-Conference awards, and the University of Hawai'i women's basketball team picked up four awards for their efforts during the 2022-2023 campaign.

In her first year with the program, sophomore guard Lily Wahinekapu the Big West Freshman of the Year last season, was named to the All-Conference First Team. Wahinekapu led the Rainbow Wahine in points per game (11.9), assists (82), and steals (48). Throughout the year, teams focused on Wahinekapu, and she still produced at a high level, helping UH to become the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament. She is the 23rd player under head coach Laura Beeman to receive an all-conference honor in her 11-year tenure.

Freshman Imani Perez was named to the All-Conference Freshman Team after averaging four points and three rebounds per game. Perez has played in 29 games while starting in five, but her play down the stretch made her stick out. She has started in four of the last six games, averaging over 20 minutes, scoring 10 or more points in her last four contests while notching her earning her first career double-double against CSUN on Mar. 2nd.

Graduate Kallin Spiller has been the definition of "stable" throughout her final season, averaging eight points and seven rebounds per game while starting in 41 games dating back to last season, leading to her being named as an honorable mention. She and Wahinekapu are the only two players to start in every game this season. Spiller also ranks as the No. 2 rebounder in the conference, sitting only behind Ila Lane from UC Santa Barbara, who was named to the first team.

Rounding it all out with another honorable mention is sophomore guard Daejah Phillips. Now a two-time honorable mention, the former Sixth Man of the Year split her time starting and coming off the bench to provide a spark for the 'Bows throughout her third season. Phillips finished second on the team in scoring with 10 points per game and second in rebounding behind Spiller with just over three boards per game. The Las Vegas, Nev. native has become a more balanced player as she ranks in the top three of points, rebounds, assists, and steals for the 'Bows, while also showing the ability to be a shooter.

Over the course of head coach Laura Beeman's 11-year tenure, she has coached 25 All-Big West selections and five All-Freshman Team members.
