Glagau and Van Sickle Earn Big West Weekly Honors

IRVINE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i beach volleyball players Kaylee Glagau and Brooke Van Sickle were named the Big West Pairs Team of the Week after an undefeated run in the Heineken Queen's Cup this past weekend.

It's the second straight week that a UH pair has won the award. It also marks Glagau and Van Sickle's fifth weekly recognition overall from the Big West after winning it a school and conference-record four times last season.

The duo went a perfect 5-0 during the weekend while playing at the top of the order. In the process, they helped UH claim the Heineken Queen's Cup highlighted by wins over No. 14 Washington and No. 11 Cal in the tournament title match. In that title match, Glagau and Van Sickle captured the clinching point in a 3-2 win over Cal, overcoming a 10-6 deficit in the third set for an eventual 21-11, 17-21, 15-13 victory.

Glagau was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player for her gritty performance and the All-American duo is now 11-1 on the year, having won eight straight matches. Overall, Hawai'i has won 10 straight dual matches, the fourth longest streak in program history.

The No. 9 Rainbow Wahine (12-3) are back in action on Tuesday, March 14 when they host Nebraska (9 a.m.) and Texas (6:30 p.m.) in the team's first home matches at the Ching Complex this season.
